Iyengar, Hatha, Ashtanga Yoga
Yoga Yin Yoga Certification
Art of Sequencing/ Hands-On Adjustments Certification
Fascial Stretching and Strengthening CertificationYoga has been a life- long journey for me. I was first introduced to yoga in 1967 while living in Laguna Beach, CA. After reading Autobiography of a Yogi, I was inspired to practice yoga and meditation. The asanas provided Moksha (liberation) of the mind, compassion to the soul and health for the body. I have over a thousand hours of teaching experience. I received my certification to teach Yin Yoga in 2014 with Bernie Clark, world renown educator/author. Rached Malouff, my teacher in Hatha Yoga refined my teaching skills. His legacy lives in the heart of all his students. I was also fortunate enough to take Ashtanga Yoga classes with Tim Miller, a master teacher, who was true inspiration! Additionally, I am guided by the teaching’s of BKS Iyengar which are my absolute favorite. I continue to study the Iyengar method of yoga, I feel that I will be a student for life!
This year has been very enriching and I am so thankful I was able to take two excellent trainings. The first training with Tias Little has provided me with a new level of teaching awareness. How exciting to explore with Tias the detailed nature of anatomy, physiology and neuroscience in relation to the ancient wisdom of yoga, the chakras, and the nadis! His instruction on the “Art of Sequencing” explored how to acquire balance/ alignment as we build our practice from the ground up. The second part of my training with Tias focussed on “Hands-On Adjustment". In this segment we learned the subtle art of “body reading” going beyond the physical through touch, feeling the subtle nuances and awareness of each individual's yoga practice. I am so grateful the universe led me to this knowledge!
In August of this year I took a training that will forever change how I move my physical body. Known as Fascial Stretching and Strengthening, the process focuses on creating and maintaining space within the joints. My teacher, Layna Cirelli is a certified KMI Structural Integration and Movement Educator. I received Level 1 training in kinesiology, physiology, connective tissue therapy and movement education.
The teachings of Thich Nhat Hanh gives the wisdom "To live spiritually is to live in the present." I bring this thought to class when I teach yoga. I find that it helps my students focus on the breath, alignment and posture. Yoga can provide insight to all of us. My favorite cue is to cultivate Sukha (happiness, comfortable) and Sthira (calm, steady) in asanas. Listening to the body and your inner self will ensure a safe and fulfilling practice. Teaching and practicing Yoga is my ultimate love. To share with others brings me compassion and peace.

Cacao Ceremony
Modern day cacao ceremonies are not trying to emulate a cultural ritual from another time and place. Just because people long ago related to cacao in a certain way doesn’t mean that way is any better or even any more suited to our present day cultural context and needs. Rather, what cacao ceremonies today have in common with ancient cultures that worked with ceremonial cacao is a genuine desire to connect with, to be guided by, and to learn from cacao. Cacao ceremony is an opportunity to listen and connect.

12 noon Meet at Madera Canyon in the Santa Rita Mountains
Google Directions: Tubac AZ to Madera Canyon 32 miles by car takes about 50
minutes.
Hike: Nature Trail in Madera Canyon is a option if you want an easier hike
Elvation gain: 100 ft or 600 ft (CEG)
Rating: Easy lenght: 1.8 miles
You can hike in reverse direction (up the canyon) which is 2.7 miles:
and gives you larger cumulative elevation gain (CEG)
Hike: Josephine Saddle Loop 4.7 miles AllTrails give this mileage
The map I have says 6.2 miles. (I will clarify this)
Elevation gain 1,611 ft (CEG)
Moderately difficult Average 3 1/4 hours (longer at a slower pace)
I wanted to share this email from the President of Friends of Madera Canyons,
about the Josephine Saddle Loop. Here is his email:
Hi Adriana,
Josephine Saddle loop is a very popular trail. So the best way to get a feel for this
hike is to break it down into the two major components: Super Trail and the Old
Baldy Trail. They both start at either end of the same parking lot and end at the
same place. Super Trail at 3.7 miles is more gradual, while Old Baldy Trail is strictly
business with basically the same vertical, but at only 2.2 miles. Old Baldy has some
40 switchbacks in 2.2 miles. Old Badly is a bit rockier, but both are in good shape.
Some like the tackle Old Baldly and "cruise" down on Super Trail, others just the
opposite. There is no right or wrong way to approach, just personal preference.
Thank you for your support,
Rusty Lombardo, President Emeritus

Emerge from the Heart
Grand Canyon North Rim
Grand Canyon North Rim
The best-kept secret of the Grand Canyon adventure is to experience it at the North Rim! It is a visitor's dream come true with incredible views and hiking trails that are uncrowded. The Kaibab National Forest gives you opportunities to explore gentle green forests which dramatically rise to a 9,000 foot elevation from the Sonoran desert. Seeing the Colorado River as it carves through the canyon is breathtaking. The Kaibab Plateau which the Paiute Indians call "The Mountain Lying Down" is an amazing and humbling experience. To the Hopi clans it is known as Sipapuni or Site of The Emergence. After emerging from the Third World through the Sipapuni, the early clans spread in all the four directions and eventually settled on the mesas where they live today.
There are over 11 recognized tribes that are part of Grand Canyon. The North Rim of the Grand Canyon will offer you a spiritual experience, one leaves you feeling more bonded and in tune with its natural wonder. As you look out from the North Rim you experience the geological birth of the earth. With awe and wonder, we see how small we are compared to magnificence of the natural world. With this experience we bring modesty and graciousness to our spirit. I highly recommend an excellent book "We are the Canyon" by Stephen Hirst a history of the Indigenous Peoples of the Grand Canyon Region.
The North Rim opens May 15th and closes October 15th. There are only 5 months out of the year to take advantage of experience of the North Rim. The days begin to get chilly and the first snow can be as early as September 30. The weather at the North Rim is much cooler than the south.

The Soul of the Canyon
As we gaze in this chasma we experience the inside of mother earth's heart. The depth brings us a deep awareness of our own belonging to this planet earth.
This connection is something we long for in the depths of our being. We see the millions of years in this majestic canyon, we are humbled by this splendid sight.
Maybe this touches our heart and brings us to a moment of abundance. Perhaps we feel that we are part of this emergence.
The natural beauty of this magnificent canyon may
shift our perspective, perhaps the evolution to open oneself to living the fullest and most complete life possible. I invite you to follow that inner guide and bring your hopes and dreams to fruition.

Iyengar, Hatha, Ashtanga Yoga
Yoga Yin Yoga Certification
Art of Sequencing/ Hands-On Adjustments Certification
Fascial Stretching and Strengthening Certification
Yoga has been a life- long journey for me.

Vladislav
With a deep fascination of the intersection between embodied movement,
optimum performance psychology, and coherent nutrition, Vladislav has
for two decades been facilitating experiences that reconnect people
with self and nature through somatics, community, and the power of
gratitude and clear intent.
Through his studies of somatic psychology, martial arts, CrossFit
functional movement, and indigenous ways of relating wholeness and
life, Vladislav offers students unique trauma-aware tools for personal
transformation and embodied life mastery.
By teaching practices that create the intentional space between
stimulus and response in the nervous system through high intensity
interval training (HIIT) and the power of the breath, Vladislav
enables students to reclaim power and authority over their lives, and begin to enter stabilized flow states.
“Healing is finite. Life mastery is infinite.”
"You never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change
something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete.”

Sound Healing with Crystal Bowls
What is sound healing?
Sound Healing. Join us for a slow-paced practice of deep opening and surrender. Allow the waves of sound to wash over you, harmonizing your body, mind and spirit. Yin yoga calms the mind and nervous system, gently stretches the joints and connective tissues. “Healing is the state of coming into balance and harmony with our highest purpose” states Steven Halpern. Our bodies are genetically pre-programed to be self-healing ……… if we are open to believing in the possibilities of our healing. Certain music heals by assisting the body to come into its natural state of balance and harmony. Using music to evoke the relaxation response is one of the simplest and most effective ways of all. However you must choose the right music. Most research has confirm that the body heals itself when it is in a state of deep relaxation. Our responses to music are far more complex, subtle and far-reaching than we imagined.
Vinyasa Flow
Integral Yoga, exercise science and evolutionary biomechanics, Integral Theory and philosophy, the Yoga Sutras, Tantric science, and neuroendocrinology as these topics relate to the beautiful practice of Vinyasa Yoga, with particular regard to Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga. The overall effect is to help students build their own liberating practice unique to their own path and progress and to keep practicing as life unfolds.
Going Deep with Yin Yoga.
Yin Yoga has it’s roots as part of the original Hatha Yoga tradition. Yin combines the influences of Indian Yoga with Chinese Daoist Yoga to improve our health on many levels.
Most forms of yoga today are dynamic, active practices designed to work only half of our body, the muscular half. Yin allows us to work the other half, the deeper tissues of our muscles, ligaments, joints and our bones. Yin mobilizes and strengthens the joints, facia and connective tissue. The emphasis is on long-held poses.
Sound Healing Crystal Bowls
Vibrational sound healing can be traced back from present day trends to many ancient civilizations including India, Africa, Europe, and the Orient. Everything in our Universe is made purely of vibrations. The human body and the entire earth are made up of energy, vibrating at different frequencies. When out of rhythm, disease and disharmony result. Therefore vibrational sound healing addresses these imbalances or blockages of the energy channels. Ancient religions and modern sciences agree that our Reality is an ocean of living energy, and that all matter (such as a human being) is simply interpenetrating waves of energy which have crystallized into form and structure. Crystal Bowls work directly with universal energy and channel it into the body to enliven our entire being.
Fascial Stretching and Strengthening
Fascia stretching and strengthening focuses on creating and maintaining space within the joints so that the body can maintain its structural integrity and flexibility, eliminating joint pain and dysfunction. In this class we learn how to maintain openness in the joints and the differences between muscle stretching and fascial stretching. What is the role of fascia in the body-structure and it's functions. This is a class everyone will benefit from!
This FSAS class was developed and created by Layna Cirelli

Santa Fe Mountains Yoga Retreat

Santa Fe Mountains Yoga Retreat
October 4-7 2022
I am very excited to announce our next Yoga Retreat! I have secured lodging for 3 nights at the lovely Abiquiu Inn, New Mexico. https://www.abiquiuinn.com. The Inn is located about 48 miles northwest of Santa Fe in the Jemez Mountains. This retreat will offer guests a special time to relax and soak in the joys of nature and reconnect to our inner beauty.
Rooms are based on double occupancy for $199 per night. We have a lovely indoor space that is warm and cozy. This will be nice for Yoga and Meditation. There are scenic areas outside if we choose to practice outside. The cafe at the Inn serves breakfast, lunch and dinner (meals are not included with lodging - prices are good and the menu is great!)
Abiquiu is the home of Georgia O'Keefe and Ghost Ranch. This small town on the Chama River is a special place to hold our retreat. Besides our Yoga practice there are some amazing opportunities to enjoy this beautiful country. Hiking, river rafting, horseback riding and biking. Here is a link to activities in the area https://www.abiquiuinn.com/outdoor-adventures
On Thursday, October 6 we will spend the day at Ojo Caliente Mineral Spa and Resort. Ojo Caliente is about 30 minutes from Abiquiu. You can buy a day pass and use all 6 mineral pools. You can also schedule spa services. However, at this time they are not booking groups for lodging due to Covid - and they are not reserving that far in advance https://ojosparesorts.com/ojo-caliente/
Either way we will be able to spend the day, Thursday, October 6 at Ojo Caliente. They have a nice restaurant where we can enjoy lunch or dinner. The Yoga Retreat cost will be $550 per person - a slight increase from last year.
I will post a complete itinerary the end of February 2022. I am planning to have 16 guests. If you are interested let me know.
For those interested I am planning to spend Friday October 7 in Santa Fe. I would love to show you around this beautiful historical city, Est. 1610. Personally, Santa Fe is one of my favorite places on earth to visit! I have suggestions for lodging. However, you can choose to stay at any of the many hotels in Santa Fe. I will make a group reservation at the restaurant Cafe Pasqual's for Friday evening October 7. It's an experience to remember! https://pasquals.com If you do decide to go to Santa Fe you will love the vibe and culture of this wonderful city. My next email will inform you of deposit dates for the Yoga Retreat and deposits for lodging.
Many Blessing,
Adriana
