My mission is to teach Yoga through the lens of our shared humanity and our connection to inner self peace. I want to share with my students the profound experience of body, mind and spirit that yoga has given me.
Joy of Teaching Yoga
I have been practicing and studying Yoga for over 30 years. First introduced to Yoga in Laguna Beach. I knew this was my path. Yoga has taught me loving kindness and gratitude towards all beings. The Practice itself is the real teacher. I am here only to guide the student into their transformation that yoga facilitates. I teach my classes to fit what the student needs, focusing on the alignment, breath and posture. I feel it is important to offer modifications and props for students who need it. I also like to offer some challenging poses for those who want to improve and deepen their practice. Yoga can provide insight to all of us no matter where you are in your practice.
When I was 18 after graduating from high school, I was not sure what field I wanted to enter. However, I knew I was looking for something deeper and more meaningful. That summer I had a job offer in Laguna Beach to work in journalism for a local paper - The Indian Head. That was during the height of the progressive movement in the United States. Moving to Laguna Beach opened many pathways for me. The city was alive with art and music and the people were very open to new ideals and new ways of thinking. What really caught my interest was a meditation group that met weekly. Meditation was a new concept for me. However, I knew about Self Realization Fellowship the teachings of Paramhansa Yogananda. I had read a book on meditation called The Secret of the Golden Flower. I also became familiar with spiritual movements like TM and Maharishi Mahesh Yoga, Buddhism, and Zen meditation. At age 18 I joined a spiritual meditation group closely related to Indian Hindu tradition. Although mediation was difficult at first, the peace and contentment I gained was immeasurable! Soon someone in our group had gone to India to study yoga. He showed us some yoga postures which he held for 1 to 2 minutes as he practiced a breathing technique. When I was first introduce to yoga all our poses were held for longer periods of time. We practice yoga with the* goal of spirituality.* We began with meditation, knowing that intention and purifying the mind is just as important as our bodies. As we practice using our inner self and breath to guide us. I have always kept yoga and meditation close to my heart and part of my life even though my life took the path of motherhood a dental professional.
The time taken to read the Vedas and practice Yoga had a lasting effect. In those early days Yoga help to guide me through the ups and downs of life. Those teachings have stayed with me through the years. My wish is that everyone practicing a little yoga and notice the change that takes place in your body, not to mention your mind. Indeed the soul, where the transformation last through eternity.
People tend to think that yoga is best when you are young, strong and bendy. I sometimes miss the days of doing fancy arm balances and leg-behind-head poses. But with age, as you may have noticed, you can't just fly into poses. You have to be more careful, conscientious and discriminating. The old injuries, traumas and strain patterns in your body lurk like demons in the closet. But as we move through the years, a lifetime of practice bears real fruit. Aging allows you to be more your “true self”, less preoccupied by the nagging concerns of the early years when we strive to fit in, be successful and be liked. If the practice is working well as we age, we come to accept who we are for all our faults and foibles, our torques and twists, bumps and blemishes. With age we feel more free, less confined by the trappings of small mind. Freedom of heart and expansion of mind doesn't have to wait until one's later years.
With love and kindness!

What People are Saying ...
I had the pleasure of a hike/vinyasa yoga experience with Adriana. It was so awesome! We hiked through Red Rock canyon over a beautiful bridge and stream and settled under a serene opening under a massive tree. Adriana led me through a very relaxing, meditative yet challenging Vinyasa yoga experience. I enjoyed the yoga and Adriana so much! She's a lovely person with extensive knowledge of many different styles of yoga and really impressed me with her delivery. I discovered that she's been practicing and teaching for decades so trust me when I say you're going to love and trust her! I highly recommend this off-site yoga experience. It's one of a kind and I hope you'll gift yourself by booking with Adriana

Adriana puts her heart and soul into her yoga teaching. I found the classes during the retreat with Adriana to truly create a sacred space for transformation. My husband and I are going to be moving. The retreat released any concerns or emotions I had impeding the wondrous adventure of your move. I feel it is rare these days to find a true humble yoga teacher who models the genuine practice of yoga and is also authentic, Adriana is a model for those qualities. My deepest thanks to Adriana for her creative sequences that were so beneficial. The atmosphere of the retreat at Oak Creek Canyon was like paradise: gorgeous landscape and the song of birds and a roaring creek. The cabins were wonderful!! The singing bowls, the native American flute, and Bobby on the guitar added to the magic.

So grateful to Adriana for inviting my husband and myself to her yoga retreat in Sedona AZ. Sedona amazes with red rock buttes, striated canyons, and lush greenery. Orchard Canyon Resort was a lovely spiritual oasis within. Meditating in an outside yoga pavilion to the sounds of birds and breezes was a little bit of heaven. Adriana is an experienced and compassionate yogi helping her students deepen their practice with the use of tips, modifications, and props. I appreciate all she did for us. A special thank you also to Adriana’s professional colleagues who contributed so meaningfully to our experience: Bobby (ace photography), Geoffrey (expert Ashtanga prep), Dana (restorative and restful), and Beth Ann’s beautiful voice (kirtan).
I look forward to coming again next time.

I loved the retreat in Sedona by Adriana. It was a wonderful experience with so many great classes. I wanted to attend the retreat to deepen my own practice as well as to enjoy a relaxing experience. This retreat didn’t disappoint. The morning meditation reminded me of the importance of doing a daily meditation and it was a perfect way to start each morning.
After meditation, we had a short break before the Yin Yoga class which was wonderful in itself. Adriana is so knowledgeable about the Yin poses and I have begun to really deepen my understanding of the value of Yin and how it can restore even the most tired bodies.
We also had the opportunity to participate in some amazing hikes with Adriana which is always so relaxing and enjoyable in Sedona. Then there was the Vinyasa with Geoffrey and the restorative with Dana along with the sound healing ...WOW! They were amazing additions to this retreat! On our last day, the morning meditation outside surrounded by the Sedona red rock views along with the beautiful sound healing (crystal bowls, gong, chimes, flute by Adriana and Dana) was such a serene and peaceful experience that it’s difficult to put into words. All in all, I would highly recommend this retreat in the future for anyone who is interested in deepening their practice or just wanting to experience an opportunity to rejuvenate themselves. This was the first one ever offered by Adriana and it was wonderful so I expect they will only get better from here.
I also want to say a big thank you to Robert for all the pictures he captured during our retreat. I am especially excited to see the individual ones he took during and after our outdoor meditation on the last morning, but from seeing all his other work I’m sure they will be superb. Thank you to Robert for sharing his talent with us during this retreat!
I look forward to future retreats with Adriana!!!

April 2019 Yoga Retreat: Adriana created a wonderful experience for all of the students, including meditations, several sessions of yoga per day, great food, guided hikes and biking in breathtaking beauty of Sedona. Her guidance in the poses was very gentle while firm, helpful and informative. She met each student at their level, modifying with props and alternate poses, which accommodated a diverse range of ability. Adriana brings her love of yoga, diverse training and devotion to the practice into each pose she teaches.“

My experience with Adriana was absolutely wonderful and enlightening! She is a lovely human and very experienced in her practice. I truly enjoyed my time with her. As we hiked to our yoga destination, she taught me about the history of the land, the beautiful surrounding flora, and guided me through an amazing yoga session that ended with the calming sound of her flute. What stood out for me most, was her sincere words and the love she radiates. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone staying in Sedona!

I met Adriana who is teaching at the Awakening yoga studio in Sedona Az. I was impressed with her knowledge and accreditation with Yin, Iyengar, and Ashtanga yoga. (I am an older student, having taken various types of yoga for the past 24 years in Dallas Texas). With Adriana’s guidance and encouragement, I was inspired to attempt some of the more challenging yoga postures in a slow and gentle manner. She kept my capabilities and limitations in mind and I was amazed at my increase in flexibility and strength. I am very pleased and will take my newly acquired yoga skills back to Dallas.

Adriana is the best Yoga teacher I’ve ever had! She conducts her classes with love and attention to your individual needs. She also shares her knowledge of not just the practice but the philosophy of Yoga which ads a deeper dimension to your training. And to top it off, she plays the crystal healing bowls to soothe your mind, body and spirit, making her classes a fully transcendent experience!

Adriana is an amazing teacher! My husband and I were in Sedona for a baby moon and she took us to the top of Rachel’s Knoll for a yoga session. She was very knowledgeable and made pregnancy modifications for me and even made harder modifications for my husband. She helped us with alignment and positioning and we felt great afterwards. She even sent me a pregnancy flow to follow at home on my own. She has such a peaceful spirit and has inspired us to do more yoga and meditation at home.

I wanted to tell you that today … I had quite the experience ... I woke up at 4AM and felt clear as a bowls (hahah). I went to meditation, did power yoga, and did power again. I felt great. My hip is back to perfect. I was able to do my handstands like nothing had ever been injured. My thinking so clear. I was mentioning this to Mark, he said he too was having a similar experience. We both believe it was your workshop on Sunday. The bowls ... because in a weird way, things feel clear like the sound of your bowls and chimes. It was awesome, thanks Adriana!

"Adriana is both an excellent and experienced yoga teacher, and a joy to practice yoga alongside. She is gentle yet knowledgeable, and gives skillful adjustments emphasizing getting into our bodies rather than manipulating ourselves into a pose. A yin class with Adriana is pure bliss, from her attentive assistance with props, to the amazing and healing vibrations of her playing her crystal sound bowls. She is always adding to her interests and skill set, and shares these things with us in class, such as ayurveda, the yoga sutras, and intuitive approaches to yin yoga from her teachers. For students who would like it (you'd be crazy not to), she ends class with a gentle touch massage and calming yet uplifting essential oils. A kind and wonderful person to know and practice with."

I Love Adriana’s Yin Yoga Crystal Bowls Sound Healing class. It was my first experience but definitely not the last! She is a wonderful instructor that offers guidance, knowledge and support for all levels. My foot was sore all week but after her class it was amazingly better!
I highly recommend her class to anyone searching for spiritual, emotional and physical growth.

Adriana is an excellent teacher, always alert to the needs and
capabilities of each individual student. She does not just describe and lead the poses but
monitors the class to help students with their positioning and alignment. She is always
helpful, caring and encouraging, generous with her time and attention. I don't think a
new student could find any better way to begin a yoga practice.

Adriana has found her true calling as a yoga teacher. She has a beautiful, strong practice & works to master new poses so that she can pass them on to her students. She is a warm, caring teacher who can teach all levels with encouragement. Whoever takes her classes will benefit from her teaching. Sylvie Harwin Yoga Teacher
Adriana is a phenomenal yogini and teacher. She creates such a soothing and nurturing environment that allows you to really go deep and focus on your practice. After every class I've taken with her, I leave feeling far more confident in my own practice and completely inspired. She light the yoga fire in my soul! I had always liked yoga, but her teachings have given me a deeper and more profound understanding of the how and why of why we do yoga. I am forever grateful! Every one of her classes, whether it be a yin class with singing bowls or Hatha is a serious gift to the world!
